BIOGRAPHY
…pierce, heal, and give rise to the emotion of my viewers.
Sarita Van Dyke is a first-generation Canadian born to immigrant parents from India who met and built their lives in Canada. Raised in a multilingual, artistic environment, she learned French early and explored her love for the stage through dance, acting, singing, and later, modeling.
At 17, Sarita’s family encouraged her to pursue nursing—a path that built on her aptitude for science and early experience as a healthcare aide. Despite challenges, she successfully completed her training and went on to serve as a palliative care nurse and manager, where her compassionate leadership shone.
Sarita’s commitment to social justice goes beyond conversation. As a wife and mother of three, she has fostered babies with the intent to adopt, volunteered as a youth director for over 18 years, and currently serves on her City Planning Advisory Committee. A dedicated member of her faith community, she is also sponsoring a refugee couple—testament to her deep compassion for global causes.
Alongside her professional and community pursuits, Sarita remains rooted in the arts. She enjoys baking, cultivating edible gardens, and integrating creative expression into youth mentorship. A long-time student of natural remedies and preventative health, she celebrates holistic wellness in everyday life.
Now a professional actor in Toronto, Sarita is co-producing the psychological thriller Who is Zarrah, initially cast as lead before being invited to join the production team.
As a Social Justice Influencer,
Sarita’s main focus right now is affordable housing.
“We need more affordable housing. It’s essential to create mixed communities that include low-income, geared-to-income, and affordable housing. By integrating these housing types, we can eliminate the social stigma associated with lower incomes. When we remove that stigma, we boost confidence. When we boost confidence, it leads to greater community involvement. It also improves a person’s mental well-being when they are an active part of the home they belong to.”
Sarita currently sits on the City Planning Advisory Committee as a Mayor-appointed member. She is also the Director of Hospitality Outreach and Safety at a charitable organization. Sarita plans on taking her crown and putting it to so much work, it will build muscles. She has been offered a role to run her own TV show to talk about social justice issues and interview influential people, including politicians, to spark change. She also plans to use her title to get her movie made—a psychological thriller that explores the mental and spiritual dangers of unresolved trauma.
Sarita also plans to speak at a minimum of three different events within her faith community to encourage generations to stay the course in the midst of adversity. As a Palliative Educator, she also plans to accept more celebrity guest-speaking engagements. As a singer, she plans to continue using her voice to sing the bilingual National Anthem at community and national sporting events. As a young woman once entrenched in the webs of domestic danger, she plans to use the opportunity to come out of herself and share her story of victory over bondage with specific groups with the goal to empower, encourage, and heal. From hospitals and addiction centres to homeless shelters, Sarita plans to visit and hear the stories of individuals to make sure they know how valued they are.
